Our J6 English group (6-PRIM, Sixth of Primary) is designed to build on the skills from J5 and prepare children to use English with confidence, accuracy, and independence in a wide range of situations. At this stage, children can understand and use a broad and detailed vocabulary, apply a variety of grammatical structures accurately, read and analyse longer texts, and write more developed compositions, all while learning in an interactive, motivating, and enjoyable way.

Who is it for?

  • Children in their sixth year of Primary School, who have completed J5 or have similar experience in English.
  • Families who want their children to be ready for a smooth transition to secondary school English.
  • Students ready to participate in extended conversations, read and understand more complex texts, and produce well-structured writing.

Course objectives:

  • Consolidate and extend grammar and vocabulary from J5.
  • Learn to:
    • Talk confidently about personal experiences, future plans, and opinions, using a variety of tenses.
    • Express ideas clearly in discussions, debates, and short presentations.
    • Read and understand a variety of longer narrative and factual texts.
    • Write structured compositions (e.g. stories, descriptions, informal letters, and simple reports) with clear organisation and appropriate vocabulary.

What the course covers:

Basic grammar and structures:

  • Revision of all previously studied tenses (present simple and continuous, past simple and continuous, future forms, present perfect).
  • Use of more complex sentences with conjunctions and relative clauses.
  • Question formation and reported speech (introduction).
  • Comparative and superlative forms with more advanced vocabulary.
  • Modals for advice, possibility, and obligation (should, might, must, have to).
  • Passive voice (introduction with simple tenses).

Vocabulary:

  • School subjects and activities, travel and adventure, nature and environment, technology and communication, health and lifestyle, arts and culture, celebrations and traditions, and a wide range of adjectives and expressions for description.

Activities:

  • Debates, role-plays, and presentations.
  • Reading and discussing short stories, articles, and adapted extracts from novels.
  • Creative writing projects and collaborative tasks.
  • Games, quizzes, and interactive challenges to consolidate learning.

Skills:

  • Listening & Speaking: take part in extended discussions, express and defend opinions, tell detailed stories, and ask relevant follow-up questions.
  • Reading & Writing: read and understand longer and more detailed texts; write structured compositions with varied vocabulary, correct grammar, and logical organisation.

Discounts:

  • Family Members (FM): 10% on each student from the same family.
