A2.1 – English for Adults

Our A2.1 course, the first sublevel of A2 according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference), is designed for adults who have completed A1 or have a basic foundation in English and want to improve their fluency and expand their ability to handle everyday situations with more independence.
Who is it for?
- Adults who have completed A1.2 or have a basic foundation in English.
- Learners who want to communicate more confidently in everyday and travel situations.
- Those aiming to progress toward a pre-intermediate level (A2).
Course Objectives:
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Communicate more confidently about everyday activities, plans, and experiences.
- Talk about past events and future intentions using different tenses.
- Handle practical situations like making arrangements, asking for help, and dealing with simple problems.
- Understand and give simple directions, instructions, and explanations.
- Expand their vocabulary to describe personal experiences, preferences, and routines.
- Read and write simple texts like short emails, messages, and personal stories.
Topics & Functions:
- Daily life: Describing routines, chores, and personal habits.
- Travel and holidays: Talking about past trips, making travel arrangements, asking for information.
- Social interactions: Making invitations, accepting/refusing politely, making small talk.
- Work basics: Talking about jobs, responsibilities, and simple work situations.
- Shopping and services: Solving problems, making exchanges or complaints.
- Health and lifestyle: Describing symptoms, giving basic advice.
- Future plans: Talking about intentions, schedules, and arrangements.
Grammar:
- Past Simple & Past Continuous (describing past events).
- Present Continuous for future arrangements.
- Future forms (going to, will for decisions).
- Comparatives & superlatives (review and expand).
- Modal verbs (must, should, have to).
- Quantifiers (a lot, a few, enough, too much/too many).
- Linking words (because, but, so, then).
Vocabulary:
- Travel and holidays.
- Social and family life.
- Work and jobs (basic).
- Health and the human body (expanded).
- Shopping, products, and services.
- Common verbs for daily activities.
- Adjectives for opinions, feelings, and experiences.
Skills Development:
- Speaking: Roleplays for invitations, solving problems, making arrangements, and sharing experiences.
- Listening: Understanding conversations in shops, at work, or while travelling.
- Reading: Simple emails, notices, stories, and articles on familiar topics.
- Writing: Short letters, messages, and descriptions of past events or future plans.
