The Whole Kit And Caboodle – Get The Ball Rolling (A1.2)

The expression “the whole kit and caboodle” is an idiom in English that means everything, absolutely everything, leaving nothing out. It is similar to saying “the whole lot” or “the entire set,” and it is used when someone includes all things, people, or possible elements in something.
“Get the Ball Rolling” is our A1.2 course, the second sublevel of A1 according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference). The expression refers to to starting something, especially an activity, project, or process, so that others can continue or participate.
It is designed for children who already have some basic English knowledge and are ready to consolidate what they have learned and expand their communication skills in simple everyday situations.
Who is it for?
- Children aged 6 to 10 who have completed A1.1 or have a basic foundation in English.
- Families who want their children to gain greater independence when using English.
- Students preparing to move toward the pre-intermediate level (A2).
Course objectives:
- Reinforce and expand the vocabulary and structures learned in A1.1.
- Learn to:
- Express likes, preferences, and opinions (food, hobbies, routines).
- Talk about the past using simple past forms (regular verbs).
- Describe people, places, and activities in more detail.
- Ask and answer more complex questions to communicate more confidently in familiar contexts.
- Boost confidence in speaking and writing through practical activities.
What the course covers:
- Grammar:
- Review of to be, have got, can + introduction to the Past Simple (regular verbs) and Present Continuous.
- Use of there is/there are, quantifiers (some/any), and comparative adjectives.
- Vocabulary:
- Daily routines, hobbies, places in town, travel, shopping, food and drink, simple descriptions.
- Activities:
- Role-playing real-life situations (in a shop, at the park, at school).
- Games, songs, and storytelling to practice new structures.
- Creative projects to use English in a fun way (posters, mini-presentations).
- Skills:
- Listening & Speaking: hold short conversations, answer questions, describe experiences.
- Reading & Writing: understand short texts and write short paragraphs (about themselves, their family, and their interests).
