The course consists of 2 hours per week, divided into 2 one-hour sessions, maintaining frequent and consistent contact with English throughout the week.

We work with small groups, normally with a maximum of 8 students, allowing us to encourage participation and closely monitor each student’s progress.

Classes combine listening, speaking, reading, writing, vocabulary and grammar, with communicative activities and tasks that become progressively more complete and challenging.

Homework is a regular part of the course and takes on increasing importance at this stage. It allows students to practise and consolidate work done in class and helps them progressively develop good study habits and greater independence.

At this stage, we maintain a practical and communicative approach, while language learning becomes progressively more structured and students begin to take greater responsibility for their own progress.

The focus is on helping students use what they know rather than simply recognise it, combining vocabulary and structures to communicate increasingly complete meanings.

Grammar is taught in context, but greater attention is also given to understanding how the language works, recognising patterns and applying structures with increasing accuracy. Vocabulary is expanded through topics and situations, while students also work with common expressions and word combinations.

As they progress towards A2, students develop strategies to understand texts and audio without needing to know every word, infer meaning from context, organise their ideas and maintain simple interactions in English.

Greater independence is also encouraged, progressively helping students to review their own work, identify errors and use resources and strategies to overcome difficulties.

As they progress towards A2 level, students learn to use English in a broader range of everyday situations and to talk in greater detail about themselves, other people and the world around them.

They develop the language needed to talk about past experiences and events, routines and habits, plans and intentions, obligations and possibilities, people and places, travel, leisure, health, food, nature and everyday life, among other age-appropriate topics.

In grammar, students progressively extend their ability to use different basic tenses and structures, make comparisons, express quantity and frequency, form a wider range of questions and connect ideas using simple linking words.

In speaking, students learn to sustain longer exchanges, ask and answer questions, describe experiences, express preferences and simple opinions and briefly explain their reasons.

In reading and listening, students work with progressively longer and more varied texts and audio, learning to identify both the overall meaning and specific information and relevant details, without needing to understand every word.

In writing, they progress towards producing short, connected and organised texts, such as messages, descriptions, simple stories and accounts of experiences, using a broader range of vocabulary and structures.

These skills are developed with the objectives of A2 level as a reference point, allowing us to assess towards the end of the course how far each student is ready to function at this level.

Do students need any previous knowledge of English?

Yes. Trailblazers is designed for students who already have a foundation in English and are ready to continue progressing towards A2 level.

Students do not need to have completed Eureka’s previous courses. We take into account each student’s age, level, previous experience and individual needs when determining whether this is the most appropriate group.

What level are students expected to reach?

The aim of the course is for students to reach approximately A2 level by the end of the academic year.

Progress can vary from one student to another, so the level is used as an objective and reference point, rather than a guarantee that every student will progress at exactly the same rate.

Will students take an official A2 exam?

No. Trailblazers is not an official exam-preparation course and students are not required to take an external examination.

However, A2 level provides a reference point for our learning and assessment objectives. Towards the end of the course, we may use activities and assessments appropriate to this level to evaluate students’ progress and determine how far they have achieved the intended objectives.

How are the groups organised?

Groups are organised primarily according to age, school year and English level, as well as timetable availability. Where appropriate, a group may include students from neighbouring school years.

How many students are there in each group?

Are the teachers native speakers?

Our team consists of native English-speaking teachers or teachers with an equivalent level of English, selected both for their command of the language and their ability to work with children and adapt classes to their age and needs.

Are the classes entirely in English?

English is the main language of communication in the classroom. As students progress, we aim for them to understand and use increasingly more English throughout the lesson. Spanish or Catalan may occasionally be used when useful to support learning.

Will there be homework?

Yes. Homework is a regular part of the course and allows students to practise and consolidate work done in class.

At this stage, it also helps students develop study habits, responsibility and independence, which become increasingly important as they progress towards higher levels.

What happens if a student misses a class?

If a student cannot attend a class, we will provide any relevant information or materials needed to keep up with the group, where applicable. As these are group classes, sessions missed due to a student’s absence cannot be made up individually and are not deducted from the course fee.

How are the monthly instalments calculated?

The price is calculated on the basis of the full academic year and teaching calendar, and the total amount is divided into 10 equal monthly instalments. The monthly instalment therefore does not correspond to the exact number of classes held in that particular month.

Because of public holidays, school holidays and the way the academic calendar falls, some months have more classes than others, but these variations are already taken into account in the total course price.

What happens if Eureka has to cancel a class?

If Eureka has to cancel a class and we are unable to provide a substitute teacher, we will offer a replacement session. If it is not possible to reschedule the class, the corresponding amount will be deducted from the following payment, whether monthly or termly.

Are any discounts available?

Yes. We offer a 5% Family Members (FM) discount on monthly fees when two or more members of the same family are enrolled. In addition, students who are members of Club Natació Sabadell may be eligible for a discount on the enrolment or place reservation fee. Full conditions can be found under Discounts.

Family Members (FM)

When two or more members of the same family are enrolled at Eureka, each receives a 5% discount on their monthly fee while their enrolments overlap during the course. For example, if two siblings are enrolled, both receive a 5% discount on their monthly fee.

Club Natació Sabadell Members (CNS)

Students who are members of Club Natació Sabadell can benefit from a €10 discount on the enrolment or place-reservation fee:

• New students: enrolment fee of €35 instead of €45.
• Current students: place-reservation fee of €20 instead of €30.

Discount Conditions

The Family Members (FM) discount applies to the monthly fees of each family member.

The discount for students who are members of Club Natació Sabadell (CNS) applies only to the enrolment or place-reservation fee, as applicable.

Discounts and promotions cannot be combined, unless explicitly stated otherwise in the conditions of a particular promotion.
