The course consists of 1 hour of class per week, a format we consider appropriate for this age group and which allows students to have regular contact with English without overloading them.

Throughout the course, short homework tasks and activities may be set on a fairly regular basis to reinforce and consolidate what has been covered in class. The amount of work will always be appropriate to the age and level of the group, gradually encouraging students to develop the habit of working on their English outside the classroom as well.

Our approach continues to be practical, communicative and age-appropriate, giving students increasing opportunities to use English and participate actively in classroom activities.

We place particular emphasis on listening and speaking, using English regularly in classroom routines, games and activities. New language is introduced gradually and in context and reused in different situations to encourage natural understanding and use.

Reading and writing are introduced in a simple and very gradual way, bearing in mind that at this age students are still developing these skills in their other languages too. They are used mainly to support students in recognising and consolidating words and expressions that have already been introduced orally.

Our aim is for students to build confidence, participate and feel comfortable using English, while keeping motivation and enjoyment at the heart of the learning process.

Throughout the course, we will work with topics that are familiar and relevant to students, gradually expanding the vocabulary and expressions they can understand and use in English.

Content may include areas such as family, school, friends, animals, food, clothes, the home, everyday activities, games and free time, with new vocabulary introduced gradually.

Students will learn to use simple expressions and structures to talk about themselves and their surroundings, express likes and preferences, ask and answer basic questions, describe people and objects, and communicate in simple, familiar situations.

The course will focus particularly on listening, understanding and interacting in English, supported by simple reading and writing activities that help students recognise and consolidate the language covered in class.

Is any previous knowledge of English required?

It is recommended that students have some basic knowledge of English and some familiarity with the language, as the course starts at approximately Pre-A1+ level. Each student’s previous experience will be taken into account when considering the most appropriate group.

How are groups organised by age and level?

3rd Primary (ages 8–9) is the reference school year, although age, previous experience and group availability are also taken into account. At this age, level begins to play a more important role, particularly where there are differences that could affect the pace of learning within the group.

Will there be homework?

Yes, although it will be moderate and appropriate for the students’ age. Activities will be set to reinforce what has been covered in class, consolidate vocabulary and structures, and gradually develop good learning habits.

What happens if a student misses a class?

If a student is unable to attend a class, we will provide the information and/or materials needed to catch up, whenever possible. As these are group classes, sessions missed due to a student’s absence cannot be made up individually and are not deducted from the course fees.

Our fees are calculated on the basis of an average of 35 teaching weeks per academic year. The exact number of sessions may vary slightly depending on the day of the week and the academic calendar, and some groups may have an additional session. These small variations are already taken into account in the course fees.

What happens if Eureka has to cancel a class?

If Eureka has to cancel a class and we are unable to provide a substitute teacher, we will offer a make-up session. If it is not possible to reschedule the class, the corresponding amount will be deducted from the next payment, whether monthly or termly.

What level are students expected to reach by the end of the course?

Our aim is for students to reach approximately A1 level by the end of the course, expanding the vocabulary and structures they can understand and use and gradually developing their ability to communicate more confidently in simple, everyday situations.

Are the classes entirely in English?

English will be the main language used in the classroom and will be used regularly for instructions, explanations, activities and interaction. Other languages may occasionally be used when necessary to support understanding and learning.

10% discount for each new student, plus an additional 5% for each additional student, applicable for one term.

Families affected by unemployment

15% discount on the course fee for one student per family throughout the academic year. Supporting documentation will be required.

Discount conditions

Discounts cannot be combined. Where more than one discount applies, the most favourable discount will be applied.

For particularly small groups of 2 or 3 students, discounts will be subject to the viability of the group and Eureka reserves the right not to apply them.
