The course consists of 3 hours per week, divided into 2 sessions of 1 hour 30 minutes.

Depending on student interest and the group formed, the course may take place in person in Sabadell or online.

We work with small groups, normally with a maximum of 8 students, both in person and online, allowing for close monitoring and the systematic work required for Cambridge C1 Advanced preparation.

The four Cambridge C1 Advanced papers are worked on systematically throughout the course:

Reading and Use of English – understanding complex and demanding texts, analysing meaning, attitude and opinion, and advanced work on vocabulary, collocations, idiomatic expressions, word formation, transformations and grammatical structures.

Writing – planning, organising and producing the different text types required in the exam, with particular attention to content, organisation, register, cohesion, accuracy and range of language.

Listening – understanding different types of audio and developing strategies for identifying specific information, opinions, attitudes, intention, tone and implied meaning.

Speaking – preparation for the different parts of the speaking test, working on interaction, comparison, speculation, developing and qualifying opinions, constructing arguments and the ability to collaborate naturally and effectively with another candidate.

As the course progresses, students complete timed tasks, focused practice of complete papers and mock exams, learning to manage their time and apply their strategies under conditions similar to the real exam.

Homework is a regular and essential part of the course, both to consolidate and extend students’ English and to provide the additional practice needed to prepare effectively for the exam.

In Seal the Deal, advanced language development and exam preparation are approached together.

Unlike Raise the Bar, where the priority is to develop students’ English from approximately a strong B2/B2+ towards C1 while progressively introducing the exam format, in this second year students are ready for much more systematic and specific Cambridge C1 Advanced preparation.

Students learn not only what is required in each part of the exam, but also how to approach each type of task, how to manage their time, how to interpret exactly what they are being asked to do, which common mistakes to avoid and which strategies they can use to demonstrate their English as effectively as possible.

However, we avoid turning the course into a succession of practice exams. Difficulties that emerge in Reading and Use of English, Writing, Listening or Speaking also help us identify areas of language that need further work and continue developing vocabulary, grammar, accuracy, fluency, naturalness and the ability to express nuance.

At C1 level, particular attention is given to choosing language that is appropriate to the context, using natural collocations and expressions, reformulating ideas, controlling register and communicating complex meanings with precision, flexibility and subtlety.

Feedback becomes particularly important in Writing and Speaking. Students learn to recognise their strengths and areas for improvement and to review, correct and improve their own work with increasing independence.

As students move closer to taking the exam, practice becomes progressively more specific, incorporating timed tasks and mock exams to assess progress and build confidence under realistic exam conditions.

In Seal the Deal, students consolidate the language skills associated with C1 level while systematically working on the four Cambridge C1 Advanced papers.

In Reading and Use of English, students develop strategies for approaching long, complex and linguistically demanding texts, identifying arguments, opinions, attitudes and implied meanings and understanding how meaning is constructed through language. Particular attention is paid to collocations, idiomatic expressions, phrasal verbs, word formation, transformations, lexical patterns, advanced grammatical structures and precise, natural use of English.

In Writing, students learn to interpret instructions accurately, select and develop ideas, plan their responses and produce clear, cohesive and sophisticated texts appropriate to the purpose, reader and required register. Specific attention is given to organisation, cohesion, register, accuracy, range of language and the ability to develop and qualify arguments, as well as the text types that may appear in C1 Advanced.

In Listening, students work with the different exam task types and develop strategies for understanding both overall meaning and specific information, opinions, attitudes, intention, tone and implied meaning. They also learn to follow complex arguments, recognise distractors and maintain concentration during linguistically demanding listening tasks.

In Speaking, the different parts of the speaking test are practised specifically. Students develop their ability to produce extended, well-organised responses, compare and speculate, develop, justify and qualify opinions, respond to another candidate’s ideas, negotiate and maintain natural, collaborative interaction.

Throughout the course, students continue to expand and consolidate C1 grammar and vocabulary, particularly in areas identified through the needs of the group and difficulties that emerge during preparation.

The course progressively incorporates timed tasks, complete-paper practice and mock exams, allowing students to apply the strategies they have learned, manage their time more effectively and assess their readiness.

The ultimate objective is for students not only to understand the exam, but to have a solid C1 level, the necessary strategies and sufficient experience to take Cambridge C1 Advanced when they are genuinely ready.

Do students need previous knowledge of English or a level test?

Yes. Seal the Deal is designed for students who are already approximately at C1 level or approaching it and have a sufficiently strong language foundation to begin more specific Cambridge C1 Advanced preparation.

Students do not need to have completed Raise the Bar beforehand. For new students, we may recommend a level test to make sure this is the most appropriate course.

For students who already study with us, we can normally recommend the appropriate group based on their progress and work during the previous course.

What ages and school years is Seal the Deal designed for?

The course is designed for teenagers in ESO and Bachillerato whose English level is compatible with the objectives of the course.

At this level, English level plays a particularly important role when forming groups, but we also take into account age, school year, maturity and pace of learning.

Wherever possible, we aim to form groups with students from nearby school years and of relatively similar ages, avoiding large age differences.

What is the difference between Raise the Bar and Seal the Deal?

Raise the Bar is the first year of our C1 Advanced pathway. The priority is to develop students’ English from approximately a strong B2/B2+ towards C1, while progressively introducing the format, demands and some of the task types of the exam.

Seal the Deal is the second year. At this stage, students have a more advanced language foundation and Cambridge C1 Advanced preparation becomes much more systematic and specific, with the aim of taking the exam when they have reached the necessary level and degree of preparation.

Do students have to take the exam at the end of the course?

No. Although Seal the Deal is specifically designed to prepare students for Cambridge C1 Advanced, the decision to take the exam will depend on each student’s progress and level of preparation.

Throughout the course, we monitor their progress and advise families on when we believe the student is ready to take the exam. We do not recommend taking the exam automatically simply because a student has completed the course.

What happens if a student is not yet ready to take the exam?

That is not a problem. The objective is to obtain the qualification when the student is genuinely ready, rather than simply taking the exam because they have reached the end of the course.

If a student needs more time to consolidate part of C1 or improve their performance in particular exam papers, we can consider the most appropriate option for continuing their preparation.

Does Eureka manage exam registration?

Yes. Eureka is a Cambridge English Preparation Centre, and we can manage exam registration for our students through our partner exam centre, Exams Catalunya.

Eureka applies a small administration fee for managing the registration, but exam dates, availability, registration deadlines and official exam fees are established by the exam centre and Cambridge and therefore do not depend on Eureka.

Before registering a student, we will inform families of the available options and the corresponding fee.

Do students take mock exams?

Yes. Throughout the course, students complete timed practice, full-paper practice and mock exams to become familiar with exam conditions, learn to manage their time and assess their progress before the official exam.

Mock exams also help us assess each student’s level of readiness before recommending that they register for an official exam session.

How many students are there in each group?

We work with small groups, normally with a maximum of 8 students, allowing for active participation, close monitoring and more individualised work on the areas each student needs to improve.

Can the course be taken online?

Yes. Depending on student interest and the group formed, Seal the Deal may take place in person in Sabadell or online.

In both formats, we maintain small groups and the close monitoring needed to work effectively on the different parts of Cambridge C1 Advanced.

Are the teachers native English speakers?

Our team consists of native English-speaking teachers or teachers with an equivalent level of English, with experience in official exam preparation and teaching advanced levels.

Are classes taught entirely in English?

English is the main language of communication in the classroom. Spanish or Catalan may occasionally be used when useful for explaining exam strategies or clarifying particularly complex concepts, but the use of English is actively encouraged throughout the lesson.

Will students have homework?

Yes. Homework is an essential part of the preparation, and students need to work regularly outside the classroom.

Activities will include Reading and Use of English, Writing, Listening and Speaking, as well as other language consolidation tasks when necessary.

At this level, students are also expected to develop greater independence, responsibility and ability to organise their own study.

What happens if a student misses a class?

If a student is unable to attend a class, we will provide the information and/or materials needed to catch up, whenever possible. As these are group classes, sessions missed due to a student’s absence cannot be made up individually or deducted from the course fee.

How are monthly fees calculated?

The price is calculated based on the full academic year and teaching calendar, and the total amount is divided into 10 equal monthly payments. The monthly fee therefore does not correspond to the exact number of classes held during that particular month.

Due to public holidays, school holidays and the distribution of the academic calendar, some months contain more classes than others, but these variations are already taken into account in the total course price.

What happens if Eureka has to cancel a class?

If Eureka has to cancel a class and we are unable to provide a substitute teacher, we will offer a replacement session. If it is not possible to reschedule the class, the corresponding amount will be deducted from the following fee, whether paid monthly or termly.

Are there any discounts available?

Yes. We offer a 5% Family Members (FM) discount on monthly fees when two or more members of the same family are enrolled.

In addition, students who are members of Club Natació Sabadell may be eligible for a discount on the enrolment or place reservation fee. Full conditions can be found under Discounts.
