“The Full Package” represents our approach to English for teenagers: a complete learning experience that combines all the essential language skills and helps students develop increasingly fluent, accurate and independent English.

“Hit Your Stride” means reaching a point where you begin to progress with confidence and perform at your best. It is an expression that fits this course particularly well, as students expand their language resources and develop the fluency, accuracy and independence needed to operate at a more advanced level in English.

This is our B2 English course for teenagers, designed for students starting from approximately B1+ and developing the skills they need to achieve a solid B2 level and continue progressing with confidence.

Interested in the course but the timetable doesn’t work? Click “I’m interested” and let us know which times would work best.

Hit Your Stride is designed for students in 2nd to 4th year of ESO who already have a solid foundation in English and are ready to progress towards B2 level.

At this stage, students begin working with richer and more demanding English. The aim is for them to understand more complex written and spoken texts, express themselves with greater fluency and accuracy, and communicate ideas and opinions in greater detail, both orally and in writing.

Classes combine the development of B2-level grammar and vocabulary with regular work on reading, listening, speaking and writing. Students also learn to deal with longer texts, different registers and an increasingly varied range of relevant and contemporary topics.

As the course progresses, we gradually introduce B2 First for Schools-style activities and strategies, allowing students to become familiar with these types of tasks without turning the course into specific exam preparation. The main objective remains to achieve a solid, functional B2 level.

The course consists of 2 hours of English per week, with sessions designed to provide a balanced approach to the different language skills and maintain regular contact with English throughout the week.

The course can be taken in person at our Barcelona centre or online, depending on availability and group formation. Online groups will open once 3–4 students have been confirmed.

We work with small groups of no more than 6 students, allowing everyone to participate actively and enabling the teacher to monitor each student’s progress closely.

Homework is part of the course and will be set weekly to consolidate what has been covered in class, increase students’ contact with English outside the classroom and encourage greater independence and good study habits.

Our approach is communicative, practical and participative, with progressively higher expectations and a particular emphasis on students being able to use English with fluency, accuracy and independence.

English will be the main language of communication in the classroom, and students will be expected to maintain longer conversations, develop and justify their ideas, respond to other people’s opinions and communicate more spontaneously in less predictable situations.

Grammar and vocabulary are taught in meaningful contexts and combined with speaking, listening, reading and writing. At this level, particular attention is paid to expanding students’ linguistic range, choosing more precise expressions and using an increasingly varied and natural range of structures.

We will also gradually introduce B2 First for Schools tasks and strategies, particularly where they help develop the skills required at this level. The aim, however, is not to prepare specifically for the exam during this course, but to build a solid B2 level first, providing the foundation for specific exam preparation at a later stage.

The course develops grammar, vocabulary, speaking, listening, reading and writing in an integrated way, starting from approximately B1+ and progressing towards B2 level.

Grammar and structures

Students will consolidate and extend structures such as narrative tenses, the present perfect simple and continuous, conditionals, modal verbs, the passive voice, reported speech, relative clauses and gerund and infinitive structures. They will also work with a wider range of complex structures, linking words and language for expressing contrast, hypotheses, cause, consequence and opinions with greater precision.

Vocabulary

Students will considerably expand their vocabulary across topics such as education, relationships, technology, media, culture, society, travel, health and the environment. Particular attention will be paid to collocations, phrasal verbs, word formation, dependent prepositions, idiomatic expressions and differences in register.

Speaking and communication

Students will learn to develop and justify ideas in greater depth, compare and evaluate different options, speculate, negotiate and respond to other people’s opinions. Particular emphasis will be placed on their ability to maintain longer and more spontaneous conversations, using a wider range of structures and vocabulary.

Listening and Reading

Students will work with longer, more varied and more demanding spoken and written texts, developing strategies to identify main ideas, details, opinions, attitudes and implied meaning. B2 First for Schools-style tasks will be introduced progressively.

Writing

Writing will be developed through increasingly structured and detailed texts, with attention to organisation, cohesion, register, grammatical accuracy and range of vocabulary. Students will also begin to familiarise themselves with some of the text types associated with B2 level, without making exam preparation the main focus of the course.

The aim is to achieve a solid, functional B2 level, developing the skills students need to use English with greater independence and preparing them to move on to specific B2 First for Schools preparation at a later stage.

Is any previous knowledge of English or a level test required?

Yes. This course is designed for students starting at approximately B1+ level who want to consolidate and expand their knowledge and progress towards B2.

For new students, we recommend taking a level test before joining the course. This can be done online or in person at Eureka, although we recommend the in-person option as it allows us to assess the student’s level more accurately and find the most suitable group.

Students who already study at Eureka do not need to take another level test, as we will take into account their progress and the level reached during the previous academic year.

How are groups organised by age and level?

Groups are organised primarily according to English level, as this is the key factor in ensuring appropriate progression. Hit Your Stride is designed primarily for students in 3rd and 4th year of Secondary School.

We also take age and school year into account and, whenever possible, try not to mix students from more than two consecutive school years. If an older student needs to work at the same level, we will try to offer or create an equivalent group with students of a similar age, provided there is sufficient demand.

How many students are there in each group?

We work with small groups of no more than 6 students, allowing everyone to participate actively and enabling the teacher to monitor each student’s progress closely.

Are the teachers native speakers?

Our team consists of native English-speaking teachers or teachers with a native-equivalent level of English, selected both for their command of the language and their ability to work with teenagers and adapt classes to their age and level.

Are the classes entirely in English?

English will be the main language of communication in the classroom, and students will be expected to use it regularly and increasingly spontaneously. Other languages may occasionally be used when necessary to clarify specific concepts, but communication in English will be actively encouraged throughout the lessons.

Is this a B2 First for Schools preparation course?

Not specifically. The main aim of this course is for students to consolidate a solid, well-rounded B2 level across all language skills.

Throughout the course, activities and tasks similar to those found in the exam may be introduced progressively, along with some useful exam strategies, but specific preparation for B2 First for Schools takes place in the following course.

Will there be homework?

Yes. Homework is an important part of the course and will be set weekly to consolidate what has been covered in class, reinforce areas that require additional practice and encourage greater independence and good study habits.

What happens if a student misses a class?

If a student is unable to attend a class, we will provide the information and/or materials needed to catch up, whenever possible. As these are group classes, sessions missed due to a student’s absence cannot be made up individually and are not deducted from the course fees.

Our fees are calculated on the basis of an average of 35 teaching weeks per academic year. The exact number of sessions may vary slightly depending on the day of the week and the academic calendar, and some groups may have an additional session. These small variations are already taken into account in the course fees.

What happens if Eureka has to cancel a class?

If Eureka has to cancel a class and we are unable to provide a substitute teacher, we will offer a make-up session. If it is not possible to reschedule the class, the corresponding amount will be deducted from the next payment, whether monthly or termly.
