The course consists of 3 hours per week, divided into 2 sessions of 1 hour 30 minutes.

This provides the continuity needed to combine the consolidation of a B1 foundation with the introduction and practice of more advanced language, allowing students to progress towards B1+.

We work with small groups, normally with a maximum of 8 students, allowing for frequent participation and communication as well as close monitoring of individual progress.

Sessions combine listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary, alongside conversations, discussions, projects and tasks in which students integrate different skills and use English with increasing independence.

Homework is a regular part of the course and is important for consolidating and extending classroom learning, as well as developing study habits, organisation, responsibility and independence.

In Make Your Mark, the approach is communicative, practical and participatory, while students are progressively expected to demonstrate greater accuracy, depth and flexibility in their use of English.

As they consolidate B1, the aim is no longer simply to communicate an idea, but also to learn how to develop, qualify and justify it, and express it in different ways according to the situation and communicative purpose.

Speaking plays a particularly important role. Students work towards participating more actively and spontaneously in conversations and discussions, responding to other people’s contributions, defending their points of view, asking follow-up questions and maintaining an interaction without constantly relying on the teacher.

Grammar is taught both in context and more explicitly when useful, with particular attention paid to accuracy, range of structures and the ability to recognise and correct errors. At the same time, students expand their vocabulary and work with expressions, collocations and more natural and precise ways of communicating the same idea.

We also encourage greater independence and responsibility for their own learning, helping students identify their strengths, recognise areas that need improvement and develop strategies to continue progressing.

Starting from an approximate B1 base, students consolidate the essential structures and skills associated with this level and progressively expand the resources needed to move towards a stronger, more flexible and independent B1+.

Students develop their use of present, past and future forms, as well as structures for expressing hypotheses, possibility, obligation, advice, conditions, causes and consequences. They also learn to combine structures more flexibly and pay greater attention to grammatical accuracy and differences in meaning between different ways of expressing an idea.

In speaking, students work towards participating in more developed conversations and discussions, expressing and qualifying opinions, supporting arguments, comparing alternatives, speculating, responding to different points of view and maintaining increasingly spontaneous interaction.

In reading, students work with articles, stories, informative texts and other increasingly extensive and complex materials, learning to identify main ideas, details, opinions, attitudes, purpose and implied meaning, as well as infer vocabulary from context.

In listening, students develop their ability to follow longer and more natural conversations and audio, including different rates of speech, less familiar expressions and information that needs to be inferred from context.

In writing, students produce increasingly developed and organised texts, including articles, stories, emails, opinion pieces and other formats appropriate to the level, paying greater attention to structure, cohesion, register, linguistic range and accuracy.

The aim is for students to use English with greater fluency, accuracy, range and independence, consolidating a solid B1 foundation and progressing towards B1+.

Do students need previous knowledge of English or a level test?

Yes. Make Your Mark is designed for students who already have an approximate B1 level and are ready to consolidate this level and progress towards B1+.

Students do not need to have completed previous Eureka courses. For new students, we may recommend a level test to make sure the course is suitable. We will also take into account age, school year, previous learning experience and individual needs.

For students who already study with us, we can normally recommend the most appropriate group based on their progress and work during the previous course.

What ages and school years is Make Your Mark designed for?

Make Your Mark is ideally suited to students in 2nd and 3rd ESO, although it may also be appropriate for students in other years of Secondary school and even Bachillerato whose level and learning needs are compatible with the objectives of the group.

At this level, English level plays a particularly important role, although we also take age, school year and maturity into account.

What level are students expected to reach?

The aim of Make Your Mark is to start from an approximate B1 base, consolidate this level and progress towards B1+.

Progress will not be identical for every student. Depending on their starting point and pace of learning, some may achieve a solid B1+ during this stage, while others will continue developing and consolidating these skills afterwards.

Levels are used as objectives and points of reference, rather than automatic outcomes at the end of a course.

Is Make Your Mark an official exam preparation course?

No. Make Your Mark is a general English course, designed to develop fluency, accuracy, vocabulary and the different language skills in a balanced way.

The work students do provides a solid foundation for progressing towards higher levels and qualifications later on, but students are not required to take an official exam as part of the course.

How are groups formed?

At this level, we place particular importance on each student’s English level and language-learning objectives.

We also take into account age, school year, maturity and pace of learning. Wherever possible, we aim to avoid large age differences and create groups of students of relatively similar ages with compatible levels and learning needs.

How many students are there in each group?

We work with small groups, normally with a maximum of 8 students, allowing for frequent participation and close monitoring of each student’s progress.

Are the teachers native English speakers?

Our team consists of native English-speaking teachers or teachers with an equivalent level of English, selected both for their command of the language and their ability to work with teenagers and adapt lessons to their age, level and needs.

Are classes taught entirely in English?

English is the main language of communication in the classroom and, at this level, students are expected to use it for the vast majority of each lesson.

Spanish or Catalan may occasionally be used when particularly useful to clarify a language point or facilitate learning.

Will students have homework?

Yes. Homework is a regular and important part of the course, helping students consolidate and extend classroom learning, practise different skills and increase their exposure to English outside the classroom.

It also helps students develop organisation, responsibility, study habits and greater independence.

What happens if a student misses a class?

If a student is unable to attend a class, we will provide the information or materials needed to keep up with the group, where applicable. As these are group classes, sessions missed due to a student’s absence cannot be made up individually or deducted from the course fee.

How are monthly fees calculated?

The price is calculated based on the full academic year and teaching calendar, and the total amount is divided into 10 equal monthly payments. The monthly fee therefore does not correspond to the exact number of classes held during that particular month.

Due to public holidays, school holidays and the distribution of the academic calendar, some months contain more classes than others, but these variations are already taken into account in the total course price.

What happens if Eureka has to cancel a class?

If Eureka has to cancel a class and we are unable to provide a substitute teacher, we will offer a replacement session. If it is not possible to reschedule the class, the corresponding amount will be deducted from the following fee, whether paid monthly or termly.

Are there any discounts available?

Yes. We offer a 5% Family Members (FM) discount on monthly fees when two or more members of the same family are enrolled. In addition, students who are members of Club Natació Sabadell may be eligible for a discount on the enrolment or place reservation fee. Full conditions can be found under Discounts.

Family Members (FM)

When two or more members of the same family are enrolled at Eureka, each receives a 5% discount on their monthly fee while their enrolments overlap during the course. For example, if two siblings are enrolled, both receive a 5% discount on their monthly fee.

Club Natació Sabadell Members (CNS)

Students who are members of Club Natació Sabadell can benefit from a €10 discount on the enrolment or place-reservation fee:

• New students: enrolment fee of €35 instead of €45.
• Current students: place-reservation fee of €20 instead of €30.

Discount Conditions

The Family Members (FM) discount applies to the monthly fees of each family member.

The discount for students who are members of Club Natació Sabadell (CNS) applies only to the enrolment or place-reservation fee, as applicable.
