At this age, we believe that one hour of English per week is enough to start becoming familiar with the language gradually, without overloading students and while maintaining their motivation and enthusiasm for learning.

At certain points during the course, we may suggest small activities to complete at home to reinforce what has been covered in class. These tasks will be occasional and age-appropriate; homework will not be a central part of the course.

Our approach is based on a simple idea: at this age, children learn best when they participate, experiment and use the language for a purpose. We want them to discover English in an environment that feels different from school, where learning also means playing, interacting and having the confidence to give things a try.

We place particular emphasis on listening and speaking, gradually incorporating English into classroom routines and everyday communication. New language is introduced in context and progressively and reused through different activities and situations to encourage natural language acquisition.

Reading and writing are introduced gradually and in an age-appropriate way, taking into account that students are still developing these skills in their other languages.

Above all, we want children to feel confident using English and enjoy learning it, building a positive relationship with the language from the very beginning.

Throughout the course, we will work with content that is familiar and relevant to children and appropriate for this first stage of learning English.

Topics may include numbers, colours, family, animals, school, food, toys, clothes, the body and everyday activities, with new vocabulary introduced progressively.

Students will also begin to use very simple expressions and structures to greet others, introduce themselves, talk about their likes and dislikes, answer basic questions, express needs and describe familiar people, objects and situations in simple terms.

The main focus will be on listening, understanding and interacting in English, gradually introducing word recognition and short written activities appropriate to their age and level.

Is any previous knowledge of English required?

No. This course is designed as a first introduction to English, so students do not need to have studied the language before. If a student has already had some contact with English, their previous experience will be taken into account to support their progress.

How are groups organised by age and level?

1st Primary (ages 6–7) is the reference school year, although age, previous experience and group availability are also taken into account. At this age, English level is not usually the determining factor when forming groups unless there are significant differences.

Will there be homework?

Homework is not a central part of the course. From time to time, we may suggest small activities to do at home to reinforce what has been covered in class, always appropriate for the students’ age.

What happens if a student misses a class?

If a student is unable to attend a class, we will provide the information and/or materials needed to catch up, whenever possible. As these are group classes, sessions missed due to a student’s absence cannot be made up individually and are not deducted from the course fees.

Our fees are calculated on the basis of an average of 35 teaching weeks per academic year. The exact number of sessions may vary slightly depending on the day of the week and the academic calendar, and some groups may have an additional session. These small variations are already taken into account in the course fees.

What happens if Eureka has to cancel a class?

If Eureka has to cancel a class and we are unable to provide a substitute teacher, we will offer a make-up session. If it is not possible to reschedule the class, the corresponding amount will be deducted from the next payment, whether monthly or termly.

What level are students expected to reach by the end of the course?

Our aim is for students to reach approximately Pre-A1 level by the end of the course, becoming familiar with basic vocabulary and expressions and gaining confidence in understanding and using English in simple situations.

Are the classes entirely in English?

English will be the main language used in the classroom and will be used naturally in routines, games, songs and activities. At this age, other languages may occasionally be used when necessary to support understanding and learning.

10% discount for each new student, plus an additional 5% for each additional student, applicable for one term.

Families affected by unemployment

15% discount on the course fee for one student per family throughout the academic year. Supporting documentation will be required.

Discount conditions

Discounts cannot be combined. Where more than one discount applies, the most favourable discount will be applied.

For particularly small groups of 2 or 3 students, discounts will be subject to the viability of the group and Eureka reserves the right not to apply them.
