A1.2 – English for Adults

Our A1.2 course, the second sublevel of A1 according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference), is designed for adults who already have a basic knowledge of English and want to expand their skills, focusing on practical communication and improving their ability to express themselves in everyday situations with more confidence.
Who is it for?
- Adults who have completed A1.1 or have basic knowledge of English.
- Learners who want to improve their communication for travel, work, or social purposes.
- Those who want to continue building a strong foundation for further language study.
Course Objectives:
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Talk about their daily routines and past experiences using basic tenses.
- Describe people, places, and objects with more details.
- Ask and answer questions for practical situations (in shops, at hotels, while travelling).
- Understand simple directions and instructions in English.
- Use a wider range of grammar and vocabulary to build clearer sentences.
- Interact in short conversations about familiar topics with improved fluency.
Topics & Functions:
- Personal experiences: Talking about holidays, past events, and daily activities.
- Travel and transportation: Booking tickets, asking for and understanding directions.
- Shopping: Comparing products, expressing preferences, and dealing with common situations in stores.
- Eating out: Ordering food and drinks with more detail, asking for recommendations.
- Describing: Giving simple descriptions of people, places, and objects.
- Leisure and free time: Talking about hobbies, interests, and weekend plans.
- Health basics: Talking about simple health problems and visiting a doctor or pharmacy.
Grammar:
- Present Simple & Present Continuous (expressing ongoing actions).
- Past Simple (regular and common irregular verbs).
- Countable & uncountable nouns (some/any/much/many).
- Comparatives & superlatives.
- Can / could (abilities, polite requests).
- Basic future forms (going to).
- Prepositions of place and movement.
Vocabulary:
- Travel and transportation.
- Holidays and free-time activities.
- Food and drink (expanded).
- Shopping and money.
- Health and the human body.
- Common adjectives for descriptions.
- Days, dates, and times (review and expand).
Skills Development:
- Speaking: Roleplays for travelling, shopping, making requests, and describing experiences.
- Listening: Understanding short conversations, directions, and common instructions.
- Reading: Simple texts like emails, notices, ads, and short stories.
- Writing: Short messages, postcards, and descriptions of events or experiences.
