Post-First – English for Teenagers – Expand Your Horizons

The expression “the full package” is an idiom in English that means “the complete offer” or “everything included.” It is used to describe a person, product, or experience that has all the desirable qualities or features.
“Expand Your Horizons” is our post-FIRST course, designed for students who have already completed B2 (First Certificate) and want to continue advancing toward advanced-level English (C1). The expression refers to broadening your experiences, knowledge, or way of thinking.
This course focuses on perfecting language skills, expanding academic and professional vocabulary, and gaining confidence to operate in complex academic and professional environments.
Who is it for?
- Teenagers aged 12 to 18 who have already achieved B2 (FCE) or have an equivalent level.
- Families who want their children to reach an advanced level of English for their studies and future careers.
- Students preparing to begin C1 level or take official exams such as Cambridge Advanced (CAE).
Course objectives:
- Consolidate the B2 level and move toward C1-level competencies.
- Learn to:
- Express themselves with greater precision and lexical richness in academic and professional contexts.
- Understand and analyze complex texts (academic, technical, and opinion-based).
- Produce advanced written texts (argumentative essays, reports, articles).
- Actively participate in debates and presentations using fluent and natural language.
- Develop strategies to successfully pass advanced-level official exams.
What the course covers:
- Grammar:
- Consolidation of advanced structures (mixed conditionals, inversions, advanced passive forms).
- Expansion of complex verb tenses (future perfect, past perfect continuous).
- Nuances in the use of modals and structures to express probability, certainty, and formal registers.
- Vocabulary:
- Academic and professional lexicon (essays, presentations, interviews).
- Advanced idioms, collocations, and phrasal verbs.
- Language for debates and formal writing.
- Activities:
- Debates and simulations of real situations (interviews, presentations, meetings).
- Critical reading of authentic texts (articles, editorials, academic excerpts).
- Writing projects: drafting essays, reports, and articles with guided feedback.
- Skills:
- Listening & Speaking: understanding real-life audios (lectures, podcasts) and developing oral fluency in formal registers.
- Reading & Writing: analyzing complex texts and producing advanced, well-structured, and cohesive written work.

- Friends and family: 10% per “new” student + 5% cumulative for each additional student, applicable for one term.
- Unemployed people: 25% discount on any fee for 1 student throughout the entire course (DARDE document)
