Our P5 English group is designed to build on the foundations from early learning and help children develop more confidence using English in everyday situations. At this stage, children are ready to expand their vocabulary, improve pronunciation, and start recognising simple written words while keeping learning playful and engaging.

Who is it for?

• Children aged 5 to 6 who have some basic exposure to English or are continuing from P4.
• Families who want their children to strengthen listening and speaking skills before starting primary school.
• Students who are ready to begin recognising and writing simple words in English.

Course objectives:

• Reinforce and expand basic vocabulary and phrases through songs, stories, and games.
• Learn to:
  • Talk about themselves (name, age, likes, daily routines).
  • Describe familiar objects, animals, and people using simple adjectives.
  • Understand and follow classroom instructions with more detail.
• Introduce early reading and writing in a fun, non-pressured way.

What the course covers:

Basic grammar and structures:

• Verb to be, have got, can.
• Use of articles, pronouns, and basic adjectives.
• Forming simple sentences in the present tense.

Vocabulary:

• Colours, numbers (1–20), animals, toys, family members, classroom objects, food, clothes, daily activities.

Activities:

• Action songs and chants.
• Storytelling with repetition and participation.
• Pair and group games to practise speaking.
• Arts and crafts linked to vocabulary themes.

Skills:

• Listening & Speaking: respond to and use simple sentences; ask and answer basic questions.
• Early Reading & Writing: recognise sight words; copy and write simple words and short sentences with visual support.
