Cambridge C1 Advanced

The expression “take the plunge” is an idiom in English that means to make an important and risky decision, usually after thinking about it for a long time, or to dare to do something difficult or uncertain – essentially, “to take the step” despite the fears.
The C1 Advanced is an official Cambridge exam that certifies an advanced (C1) level of English according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference).
Who is it for?
- Students who already have a solid B2 level and want to:
- Study at international universities or access postgraduate programs.
- Enhance their professional profile for better career opportunities.
- Certify an advanced level for competitive exams or official requirements.
Course objectives:
- Develop the 4 skills (Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking) to a level that allows you to:
- Communicate fluently and accurately in academic and professional contexts.
- Understand long and complex texts, identifying details, nuances, and implicit meanings.
- Write well-structured, coherent texts with an appropriate style (essays, reports, articles, proposals).
What is covered in the course:
- Grammar: advanced structures (inversion, mixed conditionals, perfect modals, advanced tense usage).
- Vocabulary: complex idiomatic expressions, high-level collocations, academic and professional language.
- Exam strategies: time management, tackling complex questions, writing with cohesion and style.
- Communicative practice: formal debates, presentations, and speaking simulations with personalized feedback.
Exam structure:
- Reading & Use of English (1h 30min)
- Reading comprehension of extensive and challenging texts (articles, reports, academic texts).
- Advanced grammar and vocabulary (gap filling, sentence transformations, word formation).
- Writing (1h 30min)
- Writing 2 texts: a compulsory essay + one chosen from article, formal letter, report, or proposal.
- Listening (approx. 40min)
- Understanding complex audio (lectures, interviews, academic talks).
- Speaking (approx. 15min, in pairs)
- Conversation on abstract topics, discussion, and visual analysis.

- Friends and family: 10% per “new” student + 5% cumulative for each additional student, applicable for one term.
- Unemployed people: 25% discount on any fee for 1 student throughout the entire course (DARDE document)
- University students: 20% discount on any fee for 1 student throughout the entire course.
