3-PRIM – English for Kids – J3

Our J3 English group (3-PRIM, Third of Primary) is designed to build on the skills from J2 and help children use English with greater independence in speaking, reading, and writing. At this stage, children can understand and use a wider range of vocabulary and grammar, read short passages with good comprehension, and write connected sentences and short paragraphs, while keeping learning fun, engaging, and interactive.
Who is it for?
- Children in their third year of Primary School, who have completed J2 or have similar experience in English.
- Families who want their children to continue strengthening their listening, speaking, reading, and writing
- Students ready to take part in longer conversations, understand short texts, and write more independently.
Course objectives:
- Consolidate and extend grammar and vocabulary from J2.
- Learn to:
- Talk about past, present, and future events using a range of tenses.
- Describe experiences, stories, and personal events in more detail.
- Understand short passages and answer comprehension questions.
- Write short paragraphs using linking words to organise ideas.
What the course covers:
Basic grammar and structures:
- Revision of to be, have got, can, and present simple.
- Use of past simple (regular and irregular verbs).
- Introduction to future forms (going to, will for simple intentions).
- Comparative and superlative adjectives.
- Prepositions of time, place, and movement.
- Forming and answering questions across tenses studied.
Vocabulary:
- School life, sports and leisure, hobbies, travel and transport, nature, animals, food and drink, home and furniture, festivals and celebrations, feelings and emotions.
Activities:
- Role-plays and group discussions.
- Reading and summarising short stories.
- Pair and group projects (presentations, posters, creative writing).
- Games, songs, and challenges to reinforce vocabulary and grammar.
Skills:
- Listening & Speaking: take part in short conversations, describe events, and express ideas using a range of tenses.
- Reading & Writing: read and understand short texts with detail; write short paragraphs with linked ideas.
