Our J2 English group (2-PRIM, Second of Primary) is designed to build on the skills from J1 and help children use English with more confidence in speaking, reading, and writing. At this stage, children are ready to understand and use more detailed vocabulary and grammar, read short texts with understanding, and write simple sentences more independently, while keeping learning fun, active, and engaging.

Who is it for?

• Children in their second year of Primary School, who have completed J1 or have similar experience in English.
• Families who want their children to consolidate and expand their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.

• Students ready to use English more confidently in short conversations, reading activities, and basic writing tasks.

Course objectives:

• Consolidate and extend grammar and vocabulary learned previously.
• Learn to:
  • Talk about past events using simple past tense.
  • Give more detailed descriptions of people, places, and events.
  • Understand short written stories and answer simple comprehension questions.
  • Write short texts (e.g. postcards, simple descriptions) using basic connectors.

What the course covers:

Basic grammar and structures:

• Revision of to be, have got, can, and present simple.
• Introduction to past simple (regular verbs).
• Use of prepositions of place and time.
• Forming questions and answers in different tenses studied.

Vocabulary:

• Daily routines, hobbies, school activities, seasons and weather, transport, animals, sports, parts of the house, town places, food and drinks, feelings and emotions.

Activities:

• Role-plays and mini-dialogues.
• Reading and acting out short stories.
• Pair and group projects (posters, mini-books).
• Games, songs, and chants for vocabulary reinforcement.

Skills:

• Listening & Speaking: take part in short dialogues, give short presentations about familiar topics, ask and answer simple questions in different tenses.
• Reading & Writing: read and understand short, simple texts; write connected sentences with support.
