The course can be taken in one of two timetable formats, depending on group formation:

• 2 hours per week: one 2-hour session.
• 3 hours per week: two 1.5-hour sessions.

Both formats provide regular contact with English throughout the course. The 3-hour format provides more time for exposure, practice and consolidation of the language covered.

We work in small groups, normally with a maximum of 8 students, encouraging active participation and allowing close monitoring of each student’s progress.

Classes may be held in person in Sabadell or online, depending on demand and group formation. The online option offers particular flexibility for groups in the morning and early afternoon.

Homework and reinforcement activities are assigned regularly to consolidate what has been covered in class and maintain contact with English between sessions.

The course follows a practical, communicative approach, with the aim of helping students start using English from the outset and gradually gain confidence when communicating.

Speaking, listening, reading and writing are developed in a balanced way, alongside the vocabulary, pronunciation and structures needed to communicate at this level.

Particular emphasis is placed on speaking and interacting in English, with activities that allow students to put the tools they acquire into practice in simple, realistic situations.

Grammar and vocabulary are not treated as isolated elements, but as tools that are integrated and used together for communication.

The course builds the foundations needed to continue progressing towards A1+, where these tools are consolidated, expanded and used with greater independence.

Course content is organised around everyday situations and topics that allow students to start using English practically from their first classes.

Students work with areas such as personal information, family and friends, work and studies, routines, likes and free time, food, shopping, the local area and travel.

They progressively learn to manage situations such as introducing themselves and other people, ordering food and drinks, asking about prices, asking for and giving directions, talking about times and dates, and making simple plans.

Students also develop their ability to ask and answer questions, understand simple messages, write short texts and take part in basic exchanges.

Vocabulary, pronunciation and grammatical structures are introduced and practised as tools for communication, integrated into the situations and objectives covered throughout the course.

This foundation allows students to continue expanding and consolidating their language tools at A1+.

Do I need any previous knowledge of English?

No. The A1 course is designed for adults starting from scratch or with very basic knowledge of English.

If a student has studied English before, their level, previous experience and individual needs will be taken into account to determine whether A1 is the most suitable course.

How are the groups formed?

Groups are organised primarily according to students’ English level and availability. Previous experience, individual needs and learning objectives are also taken into account to form groups whose members are as compatible as possible.

The aim is to create balanced groups in which all students can participate, practise and progress at an appropriate pace.

How many students are there in each group?

We work with small groups, normally with a maximum of 8 students, allowing plenty of participation and close monitoring of each student’s progress.

Are the teachers native speakers?

Our team consists of native English-speaking teachers or teachers with an equivalent level of English, selected for both their command of the language and their experience and ability to adapt classes to the level and needs of their students.

Are the classes entirely in English?

English is the main language of communication in the classroom and is used naturally and appropriately for the students’ level. When necessary, Spanish or Catalan may occasionally be used to facilitate understanding and support the learning process.

Will there be homework?

Yes. Homework is a regular part of the course and is used to practise, reinforce and consolidate the work done in class.

The amount of work may vary depending on the content and the needs of the group, and homework will not necessarily be assigned after every session.

What happens if a student misses a class?

If a student is unable to attend a class, the necessary information or materials will be provided to help them keep up with the group, where applicable.

As these are group classes, sessions missed due to a student’s absence cannot be made up individually and are not deducted from the course fee.

How are the monthly fees calculated?

The price is calculated on the basis of the full academic year and teaching calendar, and the total amount is divided into 10 equal monthly payments. The monthly fee therefore does not correspond to the exact number of classes held during that particular month.

Due to public holidays, school holidays and the way the academic calendar is distributed, some months have more classes than others, but these variations are already taken into account in the total course price.

What happens if Eureka has to cancel a class?

If Eureka has to cancel a class and we are unable to provide a substitute teacher, a make-up session will be offered.

If it is not possible to reschedule the class, the corresponding amount will be deducted from the following payment.

Are any discounts available?

Yes. We offer a 5% Family Members (FM) discount on monthly fees when two or more members of the same family are enrolled.

In addition, students who are members of Club Natació Sabadell may receive a discount on their enrolment or place reservation fee.

Is there a level test before starting?

When necessary, a level test or assessment will be carried out before joining the course to confirm that the selected group is the most appropriate.

Students starting completely from scratch may not need to take a full level test. The aim is to ensure that each student joins a group suited to their level and previous experience.

Are materials included in the price?

Course materials are not included in the fee and are paid for separately.

Depending on the level and needs of the group, materials may consist of photocopiable materials adapted to the course, a coursebook, or one or more books and supplementary materials.

Students will be informed of the materials required and their cost before the course begins.

Is it possible to change groups?

Yes. If a student’s circumstances or availability change, or if another group is considered better suited to their level or needs, a change of group can be considered.

Any change will be subject to availability and the level of the new group being appropriate.

What level can I reach by the end of the course?

Progress will depend on the group’s weekly hours, the student’s starting level, their progress and the work completed throughout the course.

Groups with 3 hours of classes per week have more time for exposure, practice and consolidation than 2-hour groups, so the rate of progress may differ.

At A1, the aim is to gradually build a solid foundation at A1 level. At the end of the course, each student’s progress will be assessed to determine the most appropriate next step, which may be to continue consolidating and expanding their skills at A1+ or to move on to a subsequent level where appropriate.

Family Members (FM)

When two or more members of the same family are enrolled at Eureka, each receives a 5% discount on their monthly fee while their enrolments overlap during the course.

For example, if two siblings are enrolled, both receive a 5% discount on their monthly fee.

Club Natació Sabadell (CNS) Members

Students who are members of Club Natació Sabadell can receive a €10 discount on the enrolment or place reservation fee:

• New students: enrolment fee of €35 instead of €45.
• Current students: place reservation fee of €20 instead of €30.

University and Vocational Training Students (STU)

University and Vocational Training (FP) students can receive a 10% discount on the monthly fees for adult English courses.

To receive the STU discount, students must provide proof of current student status during the course.

Discount Conditions

The Family Members (FM) discount applies to the monthly fees of each eligible family member.

The discount for Club Natació Sabadell (CNS) members applies only to the enrolment or place reservation fee, as applicable.

The Student (STU) discount applies to the monthly fees of university and Vocational Training (FP) students and is subject to proof of current student status.

FM and STU discounts cannot be combined with each other or with other promotions applying to monthly course fees, unless expressly stated otherwise.

As the CNS discount applies only to the enrolment or place reservation fee, it can be combined with either the FM or STU discount applying to monthly course fees.
